This is a screen printed decal sheet covering four RAF Germany operated Hawker Hunter F.Mk.4's circa 1956-57. Options include XF368/C of 3 Sqn, RAF Jever (with PRU Blue underside); XE665/A of 118 Sqn RAF Jever; XE663/H of 14 Sqn, RAF Gutersloh; WV391/Z of 20 Sqn, RAF Oldenburg. Includes roundels to complete two models. Designed for use with the 1/48th scale Italeri F.6/FGA.9 (a re-issue of the Academy kit), in conjuction with the Aeroclub F.4 conversion parts. All options featue colourful roundel bars, limited edition of 125 sheets.

A limited re-print (100 sheets) of one of the original Pegasus decal sheets, featuring German WWI Maltese Cross Insignia in various styles and sizes. Although aimed at 1/72nd scale, some of the crosses may be large enough for smaller 1/48th scale subjects.

In addition other new items have been added. Please also note our Blue Max 1/48th Sopwith Comic Camel conversion now includes a ten part resin cast Le Rhone engine. If you purchased the set previously from our website, these parts will be sent out automatically to you very soon.

Info-Update: Saab A 32A Lansen in 1:48 von Tarangus!

wie bereits erwähnt, handelt es sich bei der A 32A Lansen um einen Spritzgussbausatz mit filigran gravierten Oberflächendetails und Schleudersitzen aus Resin. Decals sind enthalten für „H“, F 17 Kallinge, jetzt F 7 Satenäs, Historical Wing und „29“, F 15 Söderhamn, Herbstmanöver 1968; inklusive Bonus-Decals für die Aufklärerversion S 32C.

Und noch eine gute Nachricht: Der Aufklärer-Umbausatz sowie Waffen- und Detailsets aus Resin- und Fotoätzteilen für beide Versionen werden demnächst von Maestro Models erscheinen!

• Holger Schimpf hat einen umfangreicheren Vorbildteil zum Schlachtschiff Kronprinz 1/350 (ICM) beigesteuert.
• Mein Beitrag zur Northrop P-61A "Black Widow" von GWH hat zwei kritische Emails "provoziert". Sowohl Lothar Krebs als auch Konrad Schmittlein, waren(bzw. sind) der Ansicht, dass die Kritik überbewertet sei und der Fokus mehr auf den modernen und detailreichen Formenbau als auf die - zum Teil vernachlässigbaren bzw. leicht korrigierbaren - Fehler gerichtet sein sollte. Konrad hat dankenswerterweise auch weitere Literaturquellen beigesteuert, die ich dem Artikel angefügt habe.
  Beiden bin ich für die Kritik dankbar, da dies zeigt, das meine persönliche Wertung etwas mehr durchgeschlagen hat, als ich dies beabsichtigt hatte. Ich habe nämlich versucht, beide Sichtweisen darzustellen und dem Modellbauer die (Kauf-)Entscheidung zu überlassen. Wie das Modell gebaut aussieht, zeigt z.B. unser Mitglied Jean-Luc Formery in seinem Baubericht auf Aeroscale.

Well here we are at Christmas with just a few days to go before we start 2012, always strange how at this time of the year we always look back, but at the same time we look forward to what may lie ahead in the coming year.

As far as Alley Cat range is concerned I would say that 2011 was a really exciting year, with the launching of three complete kits a 1/72 scale Balliol - available in two box options, a 1/48 scale Tucano - available in four box options and a 1/48 scale Vampire in two box options. Added to that was two 1/32 scale conversions for the Ki-61 'Tony' being the long nose Kai version, three sets for the 1/48 scale Airfix Sea Vixen, the main one being the FAW 1 conversion, then last but not least the 1/72 scale intakes for the Airfix Valiant.

The above varied subjects show a little part of my love and passion for aircraft and this variation in subjects and scale is something that I am working on for future releases. I must say that I do have some personal favourites, but at the same time I do realise that there is a huge modelling and aircraft enthusiast market out there and I would like to think that I try to provide something for many modellers.

So what is coming up for 2012?

Well there are a lot of projects that are making their way to the top of the pile but as has become standard practice for me after learning a few lessons in the past these will have to stay out of public knowledge a little longer and each will be revealed nearer their release.

These lessons include my premature announcement of new 1/72 scale Swifts more than a year ago and additional Sea Vixen sets for special schemes. Suffice to say that neither have been released as yet. The Sea Vixen sets are nearer completion than the 1/72 scale Swifts, further than that I will not commit to release dates for either, but both subjects are not forgotten.

Due to the success and demand for the Vampires the family now continues to grow.

So for the late release of 2011 and in time for Christmas and for delivery in early 2012 there are two new versions in three boxings. De Havilland Vampire FB. Mk. 3 and FB. Mk. 9. These kits are almost identical to the previous Mk. 5 releases but they have obviously had the modifictions made to make the new specific versions. Once again with the help of Tony O'Toole I have tried to select some varied and different schemes.

As in my last newsletter the Mk 1 and the T.11 versions will follow in 2012, as will other box options for the versions that have already been released.

1/48 Scale Vickers Vimy

Progress is being made on the Vimy and all being well the release date should be late January early February. The model created a lot of excitement and interest at Scale Model World and as promised here are some pictures of the built proto-type. Some taken in the hall at Scale Model World and some after the show, some of the lighting is not great but I am sure that you will get a good idea of the model from the pictures.

The manufacturing and production of the Vimy will be done in small batches, but it will not be a limited run kit. However to assist with the initial release I will be opening a pre-order option on the A2Zee Models website. As the release date is still at least a month away there will be the opportunity to pay a deposit only if you wish, or you can pay in full. All orders will be mailed out in order of they are received in. The price for the Vimy will be £98.00 this will be inclusive of the UK VAT for all EU customers, for customers outside of the EU the price will be £81.66, both prices exclude shipping / mailing costs.

1/48 Scale WWI CMB Torpedo Boats

These are two more models from the T.C. Models range that will soon be released under the Alley Cat banner. The release date for these will be toward the end of February and I will also offer pre-order system for these as soon as I have finalised the prices and some manufacturing details. There are two boats on a 40 ft single torpedo boat (model length approximately 260mm) and a 55 ft twin torpedo boat (model length approximately 350mm). Below are some pictures that Tony took many years ago, unfortunately the 40 ft picture is not great, both the original picture and the boat built by Tony were lost in a mini disaster he had a few years back. However I am sure that the pictures will help to show what these more esorteric boats look like.

In the first week of January, the Tarangus 1/48 scale injection model of Lansen will be shipped to shops around the world. This sheet of decals holds15 attractive marking options for this model. Robert Schatton wird Anfang 2012 seinen ersten Plastikmodellbausatz herausbringen. Den MB 4500 wird es einmal als Bausatz mit Stahlführerhaus und Normalantrieb oder Allradantrieb. Normalpitsche oder aufsteckbarer hoher Pritsche geben. Das gleiche Modell wird auch mit gleichen Varianten aber mit Einheitsführerhaus geben. Dies ist kein Short-Run-Bausatz, sondern entstammt aus Stahlformen. Die Qualität entspricht den neuen Revell, Dragon oder Trumpeter Modellen.
Zu haben ist der Kit ab Ende Januar 2012, der Kundenverkaufspreis beträgt 14,90 Euro.

We are please to announce the new Blue Max 1/48th Sopwith Camel Night Fighter conversion is now available to order, priced at £18.00 plus £4.00 worldwide postage.

The Comic Camel was a field conversion for Home Defence use in the night fighter role. The conversion consisted of moving the Camel's cockpit back, while also relocating the machine guns from in front of the pilot to above the wing (to avoid the pilot being temporarily blinded by the muzzle flash). The Comic proved to be successful in the role of intercepting German Bombers on route to London during 1918, one of the decal options being B2402 of 44 (Home Defence) Squadron, "B" Flight, Hainault Farm, Essex, 1918, credited with destroying a Gotha G.V attempting to raid London on 25th January 1918 while flown by Captain George Henry Hackwill. For his actions he was awarded the Military Cross.

Designed for use with the Eduard Sopwith F.1 Camel base kit (not included). This set features a complete new fuselage and seperate top decking, navigation lights, Holt flare brackets, Lewis guns and Foster rails are all included in resin. Please note the set does not include the Le Rhone engine that was used in most Comic conversions. This must be sourced seperately.

Complete kit in 1/72nd scale. Manufactured by Anigrand Craftswork exclusively for Freightdog Models, the kit features finely cast injected resin parts with minimal pour points, a clear cast canopy and high quality silk screen decals for prototype XD145. This is the most accurate kit of the SR.53 produced to date in any scale, based on Barry Hygate's excellent drawings along with close up photographs of the surviving airframe in the RAF Museum at Cosford.

Freightdog 1/72nd Supermarine Spitfire PR.XI conversion Price £8.00

This 1/72nd scale resin set includes replacement nose from firewall forward, tail and pointed rudder, radiators and 90 gallon slip tank. Designed for use with the Airfix PX.Mk.XIX base kit, also includes decals for a Danish Air Force Post-war option.

Race Models 1/48th Zivko Edge 540 Aerobatic Racer [RM4801] Price £40.00

Hand cast limited edition resin kit in 1/48th scale. Includes clear resin canopy, aluminium leg stalks and high quality decals. Race Models is a new UK based manufacturer, the initial release being the first kit of the Edge 540 in 1/48th scale. Please note cockpit detail is not included, however a detailed pilot figure (upper body) is supplied, filling the very small cockpit. This new range also features very detailed instructions and all resin parts have been hand trimmed to remove pour points. Pegasus German WWI 4 colour lozenge inc. rib tapes (UPPER) [PEGD7203] Price £7.00

This is a reprinted sheet of the excellent Pegasus lozenge decals based on research by R.Ae.s, H.A.M.G, I.C.I and I.D Huntley developed in the 1990s. This reprint features identical colours to the original sheets and is hand printed using the same artwork files.

Freightdog 1/72nd Hawker P.1130 All-Weather Fighter conversion. Price £8.00

The Hawker P.1130 was an RAF All-Weather Fighter proposal based on the Hunter T.7 airframe from a May 1958 Brochure. The proposal included the fitting of an AI.23 radar nose along with twin Aden cannon and Firestreak missiles, powered by an Avon Mk.203 engine. Rather than duel control the cockpit features a radar operators position, for this we have included a new instrument panel with scope on the right hand side. This 1/72nd scale resin set includes all parts necessary to modify the Xtrakit Hunter T.7 base kit. We have also taken the opportunity to correct a couple of issues in the kit, namely providing a pair of MB Mk.4 seats, new main wheels and a new nose wheel and let to replace the undersize items in the kit.

This product is a short run injection moulded kit in 1/72nd scale produced by Mach 2 with laser printed decals for the Empire Test Pilots School made by TwoSix Decals. Produced as a limited edition cooperation between TwoSix and Model-Craft Ltd for Scale Modelworld 2011, we have a very small stock of this boxing.
